Affordable Rental Housing and Home Ownership

All Rhode Islanders deserve to live in a safe, quality home that is affordable to their budget.

*We’re surrounded by Rhode Islanders who need a chance for better housing, and they’re not just those suffering from chronic homelessness. They also include the hair stylist who cuts your hair, the teacher’s aide who helps your child learn to read, the teller at your local bank branch, the waitress who brings you a coffee refill, the assembly worker in a local factory, the sales clerk who helps you pick a pair of shoes. For workers in the top ten occupations in Rhode Island today and the ten occupations that are projected to have the largest growth in the state through 2014, only two could afford the average two-bedroom apartment with the median salary.

House of Hope CDC buys, builds, and renovates single and multi family workforce housing for families and individuals whose incomes are at 80% or less of AMI (average median income). The houses provide both first time home ownership opportunities as well as affordable rentals. Each project is built to complement its neighborhood surroundings and is constructed to meet the highest level of energy efficiency possible.
