As we begin our 4th annual 401Gives Day Campaign – Invest in Hope – we do so at a time that a large number of Rhode Islander’s are facing crisis; the crisis of homelessness and lack of affordable housing. Rhode Islander’s are falling through the cracks of a far from perfect system – keeping them further from away from attaining a safe and dignified place to call home.
Since the launch of our first 401Gives Day in April 2020, Rhode Island has become one of three New England states to see the biggest increase of homelessness – a 43% increase. At any given time, there are close to 1,600 people experiencing homelessness in our state. House of Hope continues to expand our operations to fight this crisis, but the need is becoming more dire.
It has been three years since House of Hope CDC first introduced the concept of a emergency shelter village to Rhode Island. Since then, the demand for additional shelter and for a better way to house those in deepest need has only grown.
Homelessness has increased by over 70% in our state since 2019.
ECHO Village was developed in response to that demand – a dignified and safe alternative, where those experiencing homelessness can go to be sheltered from the elements, receive comprehensive social services, and restore their hope.
We at House of Hope CDC are so excited to share with you, our supporters, that ECHO Village is coming to Providence in early 2024!
Our clients mean everything to us.
Read our client stories now! See first-hand, how they inspire us every day. To keep pushing in our fight to end homelessness.
Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
