401 Gives Day 2024

Our Story

Since 2019, the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in Rhode Island has increased by more than 70%. House of Hope has felt the effects of this ever-increasing number, but continue to develop innovative ways in combating the crisis.

House of Hope has long demonstrated success and has been recognized as innovators in developing programs that keep constituent voice at the heart of everything we do. In August of 2020, House of Hope first proposed an innovative solution to the challenges faced by congregate shelter settings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emergency COVID Housing Opportunities, or ECHO Village, was created with the idea of using Pallet Shelters to provide temporary housing, as a critical alternative to the traditional shelter system.

Facing many obstacles causing the delay of this project, House of Hope has consistently advocated for ECHO Village – never giving up in bringing this project to fruition. Fast forward four years and ECHO Village is finally under development. The site will consist of 45 rapidly deployable shelter units and additional hygiene facilities in order to provide a safe and dignified alternative to congregate shelters – and with the goal of bringing people from homeless, to housed.

At the heart of our mission is affirming safe, stable housing as a basic human right – something we can fulfill with the development of ECHO Village. However, we still need your help. The success of ECHO Village depends upon the robust support from you and the Rhode Island Community. A well-rounded funding base will provide flexibility to respond to changing needs at the site.

We are aiming to raise $10,000 to support this program during the 2024 – On April 1st,  join us in bringing hope, safety and dignity, to all those currently sleeping unsheltered each night.

No one deserves to sleep on the street. Everyone experiencing homelessness should have a safe and dignified place to sleep each night. Can we count on your support in this new, innovative solution?
